Stucco repair in Bridgeport

When Hurricane Sandy pushed into Long Island Sound in 2012, Bridgeport's storm tide reached 13.3 feet, part of a run of record coastal flooding. Along the southern Fairfield shore the water topped the 1938 hurricane, Irene in 2011 and the big nor'easters of 1991 and 1992. A storm surge of about 8 to 9 feet arrived on top of a normal high tide, and the flooding ran 2 to 5 feet deep several blocks inland. The weather service says the most widespread major damage was in Bridgeport and Fairfield.

Stucco trouble near the ground on a shoreline house can trace back to Sandy, or to Irene the year before, long after the water drained. The EPA says water-damaged materials should be dried within 24 to 48 hours to keep mold from growing, and the paper and sheathing behind a flooded stucco wall can take far longer than that.

If that repair grows into rebuilding part of the wall, the rules are newer than the damage. Connecticut's current State Building Code, based on the 2021 International Codes, covers permit applications filed since October 1, 2022.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo tells us a lot about the type and size of the damage, but a local pro who walks the wall will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
What does stucco repair usually cost?
Small patch jobs often land in the low hundreds. Cracks across a whole wall, or water damage behind the stucco, can run into the thousands. Your photo and ZIP help us narrow it to a range that fits your area.
Do I need to know the square footage?
No. Take your best guess if you can, but if you’re not sure, just skip it — we’ll estimate the size from your photo and your answers.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
A clear shot of the damaged area in daylight, plus one from a few steps back so we can see how big it is. More photos help.
