Junk removal in Miami

Hurricane season decides when a Miami garage should get cleared out. Miami-Dade County asks its trash customers to book a bulky pickup before a storm threatens. Once a tropical storm or hurricane watch is up, the county says not to put trash at the curb or start any cleanup work.

County customers can also drive loads to any of 13 Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers. Bring a Florida driver's license or ID that matches an eligible address. Not every center takes everything. A few won't take mattresses, appliances or tires, so check the list first. Oil-based paint, pool chemicals and pesticides go to one of the county's two Home Chemical Collection Centers.

For the curb, each county household gets two bulky pickups a year, up to 25 cubic yards each. You pick a date online or through 311, and appointments open about 30 days out. The pile can't go out more than three days early, or code enforcement can step in with a warning or a citation. It has to be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day. Go over 25 yards in one pile and you've used up your next pickup too.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on how much there is, but a hauler who sees it in person will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is junk removal priced?
By how much of a truck your stuff fills — a few items cost far less than a full truckload. Heavy or special items like appliances and mattresses add a disposal fee.
Do you handle big or heavy items?
Most haulers do — appliances, furniture, mattresses, construction debris. Let us know in the quick questions so the ballpark includes the disposal fees.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot that shows the whole pile, or the full room, gives the best read on how much there is.
