Junk removal in Sarasota
Which side of the county line you're on decides how the Sarasota area hauls your old furniture.
In Sarasota County's service area, bulk pickup is something you book directly with your hauler. Waste Pro covers the north part of the county and FCC Environmental covers the south, and the county's map shows which one is yours. Each household gets four bulk pickups a year (up to 10 cubic yards), the county says. Set the pile at the curb where the truck can reach it from the road, clear of mailboxes, cars, utility boxes, low wires and drainage. If a neighbor hauls off your couch before the truck comes, call the hauler, and the pickup goes back on your count.
Cross into unincorporated Manatee County and the system is different. There, you can put out up to two bulk items once a month, on a collection day set by your zone. On top of that, each property gets one larger pickup a year, up to 10 cubic yards of one kind of material, like bagged garbage or remodel debris. Tires and appliances still need to be scheduled through the county's portal, so the right truck shows up. Manatee won't take microwaves, TVs, air fryers or other electronics at the curb at all; residents drop those off at the Lena Road Landfill.
Keep an eye on that monthly Manatee service. It's a pilot, set to run through April 30, 2027, while the county decides what bulk collection should look like for good.
