Pressure washing in El Paso

An "H" on the zoning map is what puts an El Paso house under the city's preservation guidelines. The city's FAQ for historic properties says historic districts are marked with an "H" overlay on the Official Zoning Map, and that staff will check whether a property is in one if you call the office. It lists nine locally designated districts, among them Sunset Heights, Manhattan Heights, Magoffin and Chihuahuita.

Inside those districts, the guidelines count stucco and adobe as masonry, along with brick, stone and concrete. They call masonry probably the most durable building material, and also the one most easily ruined by the wrong cleaning. High-pressure washes aren't recommended, since porous masonry and its mortar can be damaged or washed away. A masonry wall, they say, needs cleaning and repointing every 50 to 60 years, or when it starts to deteriorate.

Wood siding gets a warning of its own. When high-pressure washes are used, the guidelines say, moisture can get in behind the outside surface of the building and promote mold or rot.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on the surface and how dirty it is, but a pro who sees the whole property will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is pressure washing priced?
Mostly by the square footage and the surface — a concrete driveway is cheaper per foot than siding or a wood deck, which need a gentler soft-wash. Heavy algae, mildew, or oil stains add to it because they take detergent and a second pass.
Will pressure washing damage my siding or deck?
It can if it’s done at full pressure on the wrong surface — that’s why good pros soft-wash siding and wood. Our ballpark factors in the gentler method for delicate surfaces.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot showing the full surface you want cleaned — the whole driveway or the side of the house — gives the best read on the size and how dirty it is.
