Exterior paint in Phoenix

A Phoenix repaint is usually a stucco repaint. More than half of the new single-family homes finished across the West in 2024 had stucco walls, by the Census Bureau's count, and fiber cement was next. So most jobs here are about coating masonry, with wood fascia and trim as the smaller add-on.

Old lead paint is a smaller worry here than in older cities, simply because the houses are newer: more than four in ten went up in 2000 or later, and only about a quarter before 1980. A 1960s or 1970s ranch can still hide lead under its trim paint, though, and federal rules make any crew you hire contain and clean up that dust.

The calendar is the tricky part. In a normal year the first 100-degree day comes around May 2 and the last around October 5, and 111 days in all top 100. Benjamin Moore plans exterior painting for air between 35 and 100 degrees, and warns that a wall sitting in direct sun runs hotter than the air around it. In midsummer that can leave a crew a few morning hours per wall, chasing shade from the east side to the west. Spring and fall give painters full days.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. One photo rarely shows the whole house, so a local painter who walks the property will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
What changes the price of an exterior paint job?
Square footage is the biggest factor, then how much prep the old paint needs — bare wood or peeling paint takes far more work than a clean recoat. Trim, multiple stories, and a color change add to it too.
Do I need to measure my house?
A rough guess at the wall square footage helps a lot, but if you don’t know it, just skip the question and we’ll estimate from your photo.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
A shot of the front of the house, plus any sides showing wear like peeling or bare spots, gives us the best read.
