Junk removal in Port St. Lucie

If you hire a handyman to rip out old cabinets in Port St. Lucie, the pile is theirs to haul, not the city's. City code puts builders, contractors, tree surgeons, landscapers and handyman services on the hook for removing and lawfully disposing of the debris their work creates. The city's bulk service won't take contractor material, concrete or land-clearing debris, either.

What it does take is the big stuff from a normal household: furniture, mattresses, exercise equipment, fridges, stoves and other appliances. A swing set or a basketball goal can go too, once it's broken down. Bulk comes once a month, on the same day as your garbage, recycling and yard waste. The limit is 2 cubic yards a month, which the city compares to two standard front-load washers. A bigger pile gets tagged and left at the curb, and clearing it becomes the owner's job. Keep it neatly stacked, three feet from mailboxes, poles, trees and hydrants.

A few things never go out: tires, propane tanks, engines or mowers that still hold fuel, and oil-based paint. Latex paint can go once it has dried out with the lid off.

Hauling it yourself changed this year. Effective Jan. 5, 2026, the city permanently closed its Convenient Drop-off Center on SW Cameo Boulevard, citing falling use and the cost of keeping it open. The city's bulk page now points you to St. Lucie County's Solid Waste, Baling & Recycling Facility on Glades Cut-Off Road in Fort Pierce. Bring proof of residency.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on how much there is, but a hauler who sees it in person will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is junk removal priced?
By how much of a truck your stuff fills — a few items cost far less than a full truckload. Heavy or special items like appliances and mattresses add a disposal fee.
Do you handle big or heavy items?
Most haulers do — appliances, furniture, mattresses, construction debris. Let us know in the quick questions so the ballpark includes the disposal fees.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot that shows the whole pile, or the full room, gives the best read on how much there is.
