Pressure washing in Ogden

Ogden's water shortage plan turns hard-surface washing from a request into a rule in steps. Ogden City Public Utilities adopted the plan under Section 9-8-1 of the city code, and it applies to everyone using water the city utility provides. It sorts a shortage into four phases, from advisory to extreme. For washing a driveway, patio or other hard surface, holding off is voluntary in Phase I and highly recommended in Phase II. In Phases III and IV the ban is mandatory: no hard-surface washing, except for health or safety. The utility tracks drought severity with a surface water supply index built on Ogden River snowpack, stream flow, precipitation and reservoir storage.

A secondary water spigot plays by other rules. In nearby Roy, the Roy Water Conservancy District says its secondary water is untreated river water. It's not fit to drink, and it should only be used to water landscape, so it isn't the line to hook a pressure washer to. The district turns it on around mid-April and off in October, and it says the supply was cut by 20% for the 2026 season. Ogden's own page sends secondary water complaints to whichever water authority runs that system.

For the drinking-water tap, Ogden's pollution prevention page has a hose rule of its own. Always put an atmospheric breaker valve on your hose bib, to prevent backflow.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on the surface and how dirty it is, but a pro who sees the whole property will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is pressure washing priced?
Mostly by the square footage and the surface — a concrete driveway is cheaper per foot than siding or a wood deck, which need a gentler soft-wash. Heavy algae, mildew, or oil stains add to it because they take detergent and a second pass.
Will pressure washing damage my siding or deck?
It can if it’s done at full pressure on the wrong surface — that’s why good pros soft-wash siding and wood. Our ballpark factors in the gentler method for delicate surfaces.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot showing the full surface you want cleaned — the whole driveway or the side of the house — gives the best read on the size and how dirty it is.
