Junk removal in Ogden

Ogden says it plainly: the city doesn't have a curbside cleanup program. What it offers instead are two routes, and both come with strings.

The first is Dial-a-Dumpster, a 30-yard bin for a neighborhood. Five residents team up on one application and agree on where the bin should go. You pick up the form at the Public Works Building on 29th Street and bring it back there to book a date. Everyone signing up needs an active Ogden City Utility account, and it's one dumpster per resident per calendar year. The bin needs a flat, hard, level spot. A steep slope, utility lines or low branches can mean the driver won't drop it.

There's a catch if you're clearing out a house. The city says the dumpster is for neighbors cleaning up yards and debris, not for personal projects like remodeling, moving in or out, or emptying a basement, garage or shed. Tires, batteries, shingles, concrete, dirt, refrigerators and computer monitors can't go in it either.

The second route is a pair of passes. Each spring, from March through the end of June, residents can get two passes that cover a set amount of non-green waste at the Ogden Transfer Station.

If your group does land a dumpster, line up the work first. Drop-offs and pickups happen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and the bin leaves about 48 hours after it arrives. Delivered on Monday, it's gone on Wednesday.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on how much there is, but a hauler who sees it in person will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is junk removal priced?
By how much of a truck your stuff fills — a few items cost far less than a full truckload. Heavy or special items like appliances and mattresses add a disposal fee.
Do you handle big or heavy items?
Most haulers do — appliances, furniture, mattresses, construction debris. Let us know in the quick questions so the ballpark includes the disposal fees.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot that shows the whole pile, or the full room, gives the best read on how much there is.
