Pressure washing in Tucson

Water that leaves your lot is the problem in Tucson, not the hose. Tucson Water says it has been illegal in the city since 1984 to let water escape from private property. Under Tucson Code 27-15, the water waste ordinance, water that runs off your premises onto an alley, a street or someone else's property counts as waste.

The same section bans washing driveways, sidewalks, parking areas and other hard surfaces with an open hose, or with a spray nozzle on an open hose. But that ban doesn't apply to residential customers. So you can wash your own driveway. What you can't do is let the rinse run down to the street.

The ordinance also caps puddles. Water can't pond in a street or parking lot deeper than a quarter inch, or over more than 150 square feet in all.

Tucson Water has conservation inspectors who check reported water waste, and they also watch for it while they're out on the city's streets. A first violation usually gets a warning. A citation comes if the problem isn't fixed.

If you hire a crew and it runs off your spigot, keep the ordinance's presumption in mind. It treats the person billed for the water, or the one getting the water at the property, as having knowingly allowed any use that breaks the rules. The city says a property manager or a landscape contractor can be cited too.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on the surface and how dirty it is, but a pro who sees the whole property will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is pressure washing priced?
Mostly by the square footage and the surface — a concrete driveway is cheaper per foot than siding or a wood deck, which need a gentler soft-wash. Heavy algae, mildew, or oil stains add to it because they take detergent and a second pass.
Will pressure washing damage my siding or deck?
It can if it’s done at full pressure on the wrong surface — that’s why good pros soft-wash siding and wood. Our ballpark factors in the gentler method for delicate surfaces.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot showing the full surface you want cleaned — the whole driveway or the side of the house — gives the best read on the size and how dirty it is.
