Stucco repair in Greensboro

One of the oldest Italian villas in America sits in downtown Greensboro. In February 1844 the architect Alexander Jackson Davis spent three days in town and drew a large addition for Governor John Motley Morehead's house, Blandwood. Davis's biographer believed it to be the oldest surviving example of the Italian Villa style in the United States, and its tower made it an influential model. The Davis wing is stucco, with the older clapboard farmhouse sections joined on behind it.

Most Greensboro houses aren't villas, of course. Still, plenty of them are old enough for their stucco to have real age on it. Nearly one home in five in the metro was built before 1960, Census estimates show.

What wears an old wall down here is heavy rain. North Carolina's state climate summary says days with 3 inches of rain or more were most frequent in the 2015 to 2020 period. On a stucco wall, a day like that finds every open crack and every place a gutter spills against the house. Those are the spots that decide how long an old stucco wall lasts here.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo tells us a lot about the type and size of the damage, but a local pro who walks the wall will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
What does stucco repair usually cost?
Small patch jobs often land in the low hundreds. Cracks across a whole wall, or water damage behind the stucco, can run into the thousands. Your photo and ZIP help us narrow it to a range that fits your area.
Do I need to know the square footage?
No. Take your best guess if you can, but if you’re not sure, just skip it — we’ll estimate the size from your photo and your answers.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
A clear shot of the damaged area in daylight, plus one from a few steps back so we can see how big it is. More photos help.
