Stucco repair in Raleigh

The state office that interprets North Carolina's building code sits right here in Raleigh, and it has a pointed view on synthetic stucco. In January 2020, the Office of State Fire Marshal issued an interpretation: EIFS on a house needs a special inspection. A design professional or a certified installer has to certify it went on per the maker's instructions and section R703.9 of the state residential code.

Its reasons are worth knowing. The state lets exterior finishes go on before the framing inspection, so your local inspector may never see how the EIFS was installed. And, in the office's own words, "historically there have been issues with EIFS in North Carolina."

So if you're re-cladding or adding on to a Wake County house with EIFS, ask who is signing that certification before the crew starts. Get the name in writing.

Hurricanes reach this far inland, too. In 1996, Hurricane Fran didn't weaken to a tropical storm until it was over central North Carolina, and Wake County alone reported heavy damage to homes and businesses. On an older barrier EIFS wall, rain driven in at a joint has no built-in way back out.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo tells us a lot about the type and size of the damage, but a local pro who walks the wall will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
What does stucco repair usually cost?
Small patch jobs often land in the low hundreds. Cracks across a whole wall, or water damage behind the stucco, can run into the thousands. Your photo and ZIP help us narrow it to a range that fits your area.
Do I need to know the square footage?
No. Take your best guess if you can, but if you’re not sure, just skip it — we’ll estimate the size from your photo and your answers.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
A clear shot of the damaged area in daylight, plus one from a few steps back so we can see how big it is. More photos help.
