Junk removal in Baltimore

A big Baltimore cleanout leans on the city's drop-off sites, because the curb takes only three items a month. Old fridges, washers and other scrap metal go to a designated recycling center. Tires can go to any of the Residential Recycling Centers, and so can up to five quarts of used motor oil. Hard plastics go to the Citizen Drop-Off Centers. Old computers and TVs go through the city's eCycling program, and clean, dry mattresses and box springs can be dropped off for recycling.

Those three curbside items go out on one set Saturday a month. Call 311 or use 311 Online to find your bulk trash day. Then book at least four working days before it, with your address, your phone number and the three things you want gone. A sofa, a mattress, an appliance and up to four tires with the rims off all count.

The bulk crew won't take sheetrock, siding, wood scraps, roofing, auto parts, paint or stain. Everything else should be out by 7 a.m. If your trash goes out back, so does the bulk. Homes with rear pickup leave items at the end of the yard, with the gate unlocked, in the same spot as regular trash.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on how much there is, but a hauler who sees it in person will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is junk removal priced?
By how much of a truck your stuff fills — a few items cost far less than a full truckload. Heavy or special items like appliances and mattresses add a disposal fee.
Do you handle big or heavy items?
Most haulers do — appliances, furniture, mattresses, construction debris. Let us know in the quick questions so the ballpark includes the disposal fees.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot that shows the whole pile, or the full room, gives the best read on how much there is.
