Junk removal costs in Honolulu

On O'ahu, a bulky pickup is something you book, and you list exactly what's going. The City and County of Honolulu runs bulky collection by appointment, set up online at opala.org or by phone. You describe each item and how many. Crews take only what's on the appointment, so the extra chair you added the night before stays behind.

The limits are small. A single-family home gets up to five bulky items per appointment, with up to two metal appliances on a separate appliance appointment. Each address gets one appointment a month, except in Waikiki, where it's weekly. Long items and bundles max out at 6 feet and 60 pounds.

Timing is strict. Nothing goes out before 6 p.m. the night before, and it has to be at the curb by 6 a.m. Setting bulky items out on any other day is illegal, even if you're moving out sooner. Keep them off the sidewalk, the driveway and the storm drain.

For a bigger cleanout, you can drive it yourself. The city runs convenience centers and transfer stations around the island for residents, and they take furniture, bulky items and large appliances. You get two loads a day. Bring a sedan, SUV, pickup or minivan. Trailers aren't, unless a transfer station approves you first. A rented pickup works at any of the drop-off sites, as long as the rental agreement is in your name.
