Junk removal in Lexington
For a big Lexington cleanout, the city can drop a box at your house. Through the city's Loan-A-Box program, Fayette County residents inside the urban service boundary can reserve a 10-cubic-yard container, 10 feet long, 6 feet wide and 4 feet high. It isn't for businesses or contractors. Boxes arrive on weekdays and leave the next morning unless you book more days, and one delivered on a Friday stays until Monday.
The box takes what a remodel leaves: drywall, plaster, windows, carpet, lumber, furniture, plus washers, dryers and stoves. Concrete and masonry can't fill more than a quarter of it. Tires, car parts, fridges and other Freon appliances, and flammable liquids stay out, and anything piled over the sides gets pulled out and left nearby.
For a lighter load, regular service does a lot. Chairs, desks, mattresses and box springs go to the curb on your normal collection day. Appliances and tires need a special pickup through LexCall, which usually comes within five business days. The city takes Freon appliances but not ones holding oil, and fridge and freezer doors come off first. Up to four car or small truck tires a week can go, off the rims. TVs, microwaves and computers go to the Electronic Recycling Center instead.
One call is easy to forget. If a mattress or sleeper sofa has bugs, tell LexCall, because those mattresses may be collected separately.
