Junk removal in Memphis

Memphis picks up bulk twice a month, on a schedule set by your address. Check your bulk week in the Memphis Curbside Collection app or on the city's Solid Waste page before anything goes out, and don't add to the pile once the crew has passed your house.

A pile can be up to 10 cubic yards, within 3 feet of the street and clear of mailboxes, parked cars, fences and low limbs. The city warns that crews can't reach debris if their equipment has to leave the street, so drag everything to the curb. Keep tree limbs in their own pile, apart from furniture and mattresses, or expect a longer wait. Up to four tires can go out too, though tire pickup may need special arrangements.

City ordinance bars the crews from hauling dirt, brick, rock, concrete, lumber or roofing. Paint, chemicals and other hazardous leftovers belong at the Haley Road facility the city supports.

Residential customers can also haul one truckload of non-hazardous waste a month to either Republic Services landfill, North Shelby in Millington or South Shelby on Malone Road. Bring proof that you pay the solid waste fee, like a recent MLGW bill.

Fall is the busy season. The city says it sees a noticeable jump in bulk waste and yard debris every fall, as leaves and storm debris pile up.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on how much there is, but a hauler who sees it in person will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is junk removal priced?
By how much of a truck your stuff fills — a few items cost far less than a full truckload. Heavy or special items like appliances and mattresses add a disposal fee.
Do you handle big or heavy items?
Most haulers do — appliances, furniture, mattresses, construction debris. Let us know in the quick questions so the ballpark includes the disposal fees.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot that shows the whole pile, or the full room, gives the best read on how much there is.
