Junk removal in Salem

Bring your license when you haul a load to the dump around Salem. Since June 1, 2026, Brown's Island Demolition Landfill has asked every customer for a state-issued driver's license or ID, and Marion County says all its sites now require ID when you pull in. Bags that ride above the truck's sidewalls have to be tied down with a rope, net or tarp, and the tailgate stays up. A loose load costs extra, and more each time it happens.

Brown's Island, on Faragate Street South, takes the heavy stuff: concrete, brick, dirt, rock, tile, plaster, sheetrock, window glass and vinyl flooring. It turns away wood, carpet, yard debris, metal and household garbage. Asphalt shingles and vinyl flooring come with a catch, since asbestos is by permit only. It's open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Household garbage, tires and appliances go to the Salem-Keizer Recycling & Transfer Station on Deer Park Drive Southeast instead. It's open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those loads carry a fee, with a separate one for an appliance that holds refrigerant. Bikes, scooters and most metal items go in the free recycling.

Old electronics ride free. The Deer Park Drive station takes computers, TVs, monitors and laptops at no charge, up to seven per customer per day.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on how much there is, but a hauler who sees it in person will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is junk removal priced?
By how much of a truck your stuff fills — a few items cost far less than a full truckload. Heavy or special items like appliances and mattresses add a disposal fee.
Do you handle big or heavy items?
Most haulers do — appliances, furniture, mattresses, construction debris. Let us know in the quick questions so the ballpark includes the disposal fees.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot that shows the whole pile, or the full room, gives the best read on how much there is.
