Junk removal in Stockton
Stockton runs its big curbside cleanup on a calendar. Clean Sweep is a City of Stockton program for single-family homes, duplexes and triplexes, and it runs from February through October. You get one bulky pickup a year, by appointment only, and you have to call your garbage company two weeks ahead of the date you want.
The pile has a set size: three cubic yards, which the city spells out as 3 feet high, 9 feet long and 3 feet wide. A pile bigger than 10 cubic yards isn't picked up at all; the city hands it to Code Enforcement.
Furniture, mattresses, carpet and pad, appliances and TVs all qualify. So do up to six 30-gallon bags of household or yard waste, and up to five tires without rims. Small loose stuff gets left behind. It has to be bagged or boxed, with no bag or box over 40 pounds. Dirt, rock and concrete are out, along with engines, car batteries and paint.
Live in a county pocket or just past the city limits? Clean Sweep isn't yours. The city sends you to the San Joaquin County Solid Waste Division instead.
Not sure which company to call? Look at the body of your carts, not the lids. The lids are the same colors all over town. A cart with a green body means Waste Management serves your street.
