Pressure washing in Los Angeles

The water in your hose isn't the same across Los Angeles. LADWP's 2025 water quality report says 44 percent of the city's supply that year came from the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Another 52 percent was bought from the Metropolitan Water District, which brings in State Water Project and Colorado River water. Local groundwater and recycled water made up the rest.

Those sources differ in hardness. Water from the city's aqueduct filtration plant averaged 103 milligrams per liter in 2025. Two of the district plants that serve the area, Weymouth and Diemer, averaged 234 and 236, more than twice as much. The third, Jensen, averaged 140.

Hardness shows up at the end of a wash. When rinse water dries on windows, dark trim or a car in the driveway, the minerals stay behind as white spots. Ask how the crew handles the final rinse on glass, and whether they dry it.

The runoff has its own rule. LADWP's water-use restrictions include a flat one: no runoff onto streets, driveways and gutters.

This report covers LADWP customers only. Long Beach, Anaheim and the county's other cities run their own water. Inside the city, your neighborhood sets the mix. The report lists the Harbor communities, including San Pedro and Harbor City, and the Eastern ones, such as Eagle Rock and Highland Park, on district water alone, with no Los Angeles Aqueduct water. If your house is there, the water on your windows comes from plants that averaged 140 to 236.

Questions homeowners ask

How accurate is a photo estimate?
It’s a ballpark, not a quote. A photo gives us a good read on the surface and how dirty it is, but a pro who sees the whole property will always be more precise. Use our number as the range to expect before you start calling around.
How is pressure washing priced?
Mostly by the square footage and the surface — a concrete driveway is cheaper per foot than siding or a wood deck, which need a gentler soft-wash. Heavy algae, mildew, or oil stains add to it because they take detergent and a second pass.
Will pressure washing damage my siding or deck?
It can if it’s done at full pressure on the wrong surface — that’s why good pros soft-wash siding and wood. Our ballpark factors in the gentler method for delicate surfaces.
Is this really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no spam. We only make money if you choose to connect with a local pro — and that’s up to you.
What photo works best?
One shot showing the full surface you want cleaned — the whole driveway or the side of the house — gives the best read on the size and how dirty it is.
