Junk removal in Manchester
Book a bulky pickup in Manchester and you name a preferred date, but the city may assign a different one. Request it online, mail in the Bulky Pickup Request Form, or go to the Department of Public Works on Valley Street. Each appointment takes up to five items, for Manchester residents only. Private communities, private ways and businesses don't qualify.
The curb list covers chairs, couches, cribs, exercise equipment, free-standing shelves, kitchen and laundry appliances, mattresses, box springs, rugs and carpet. Doors, windows, cabinets and bathroom fixtures count as construction debris and stay behind. So do TVs, computers and monitors, rocks, concrete and wood, and propane tanks or fire extinguishers.
Much of that can go to the city's Drop Off Facility at 500 Dunbarton Road. It takes bulky items, construction and demolition debris, electronics, tires, scrap metal, latex paint, and propane tanks up to 100 pounds. It won't take asbestos, soil and rock, or hazardous waste. It's open weekdays and the first and third Saturday mornings, and the scale closes 15 minutes before the gate does.
You need an annual permit, sold at the facility, and proof you live in the city, like a driver's license with a Manchester address or a lease. With a current permit, you can bring up to ten bulky items a year from your own home before fees apply.
The city issues one permit per household. Separate units at the same address, though, each count as their own household.
